Music to complement your boredom

If you ever find yourself in the mood for some music to complement your excruciating boredom, you're going to want to give Brian Eno a listen.

Eno's music does not impose itself, it's the kind of music you can pop in the background and preserve your attention because, in my experience, while his music doesn't exactly fade into the background, it never causes any mental interruptions either.

For your first piece, start with "Bloom", an hour and a half long composition of entrancing melodies that Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers collaborated to create in June 2024.

While typing this up, I found out through one of Peter Chilvers' blog posts that Bloom was rooted in a rich history dating back to 2008, when Peter and Eno released an application of an identical name which would let you compose your own music from a set of equally soothing notes or take over when idle to generate music ad infinitum.

Bloom's use of ripple effects and beautiful gradient backgrounds would really make for a perfect screensaver.
