Hot chocolate is my thing now
It's been a while since I last posted, I thought I'd break the ice by talking about something completely irrelevant to the usual topics discussed in this blog.
I stopped drinking coffee a couple months ago. I made that decision when coffee began to seriously interfere with my health during a really stressful time in my life.
I went through a bit of a crisis trying to figure out how to patch up the hole that old addiction had left.
I mostly drank water, and water is a good drink, in fact it's so good we're looking for it in outer space. One problem with water is that it's tasteless. It's not going to replace a refreshing, flavorful drink.
I went through a tea phase, and tea is nice, but it can get a bit boring. So I tried icing it, that was fun the first time, then it became a hassle.
I was out buying groceries one day when I got the idea to make myself a nice cup of hot chocolate, I had never done that in all of my life — I've had hot chocolate before, it just never clicked for me.
There's something different about preparing a drink for yourself, a good cup of hot chocolate feels like a birthday present, a birthday present for your taste buds and esophagus.
Coffee had been my de facto drink for a long time, it was easy to prepare and it's quite a delicious beverage, it was good enough that I didn't bother trying out some of the alternatives which I've now come to appreciate.
